RJ 85

RJ 85 is a Swedish-designed coastal cruiser for self-construction. There are just over 500 boats in Sweden and a number in Denmark, most of the boats were built between 1973 and 1976. 

RJ 85 is available with both inboard engine and outboard engine. The boat has a clear line heritage from classic archipelago cruisers and “Mälaren” boats (Mälarbåtar).

The interior varies a lot between different boats, both in terms of floor plan and quality. There was an interior design solution to buy that had a galley in front of the mast, this interior is usually called “Stockholm interior” design because it was common in Stockholm buildings. Several built the interior themselves and then the classic galley placement is just next to the companionway door.
